Liz Lane

Composer and arranger Liz Lane has created a new work for brass band and narrator called Silver Rose, which was conducted by Ian Holmes, Principal Conductor of Lydbrook Band and Director of the University of the West of England Centre for Performing Arts as part of a concert that took place at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery on Remembrance Sunday. It incorporated poems by Bristol-born poet Isaac Rosenberg.

In the last musical section all the performers stood up to honour those who lost their lives in the war.  As the music drew to a close, fewer instruments played, ending with just one or two and the remainder of the performers standing in silence. See the News page for photos of the event.  You can also see film of the performance HERE. Read a summary of the feedback received HERE.

Liz Lane and Ian Holmes appeared at the First World War Day: Bristol 2014 Arts Projects event on 15 November at Watershed.
